Rockford IceHogs re-sign forward Wade Brookbank on an AHL contract

The Rockford IceHogs, of the American Hockey League and affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, have agreed to terms with veteran forward Wade Brookbank on an AHL contract for the 2013-14 season.

Brookbank, 35, played in 28 games last season for the IceHogs recording over 100 penalty minutes and an assist. The 2012-13 marked Brookbank’s fourth with the IceHogs, where he has recorded eight points (3G, 5A) and 287 PIMs.

Brookbank, the older brother of Blackhawks’ defenseman Sheldon Brookbank, has played in 424 career games at the AHL level with Grand Rapids, Binghamton, Milwaukee, Manitoba, Providence, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Albany and Norfolk. He has also seen NHL ice time with the Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, and Carolina Hurricans in 127 career games.

With the Blackhawks returning his brother, Sheldon and other notable forwards Jonathan Toews, Marcus Kruger, Andrew Shaw; Wade will likely play out the year in Rockford.
