Chicago Blackhawks re-sign defenseman Ryan Stanton

The Chicago Blackhawks re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Ryan Stanton to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Stanton played in one regular season game, the season finale, recording a plus-1 and two penalty minutes in his NHL debut against central division rival St. Louis on April 13. He stayed with the Hawks throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs as a practice player.

Prior to joining the Hawks, he had three goals, 22 assists and a plus-16 rating in 73 games for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League last season.

Stanton was originally signed by the Hawks as a free agent on March 12, 2010 with a three year entry level deal after four years of playing for the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey Leauge.
