Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will return to the Bulls’ starting lineup when the 2013-’14 season begins.
Rose broke the news himself at an Adidas camp in Spain, according to HoopsHype.
I should be able to play in the first game of season,” Rose said. “I know I’m anxious right now to play. My health is everything right now, it’s 100 percent. But right now, the first game… I will definitely be playing it.
Rose will make his first regular season start 18 months removed from surgery to repair his torn ACL. Rose suffered the injury during Game 1 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, while going for a layup wiht 1:22 left to play and the Bulls up by 12.
The Chicago-native and 2011 MVP was highly criticized after doctors cleared him to play late in the season as he elected to sit out the entire 2012-’13 season.
Rose also stated he would play some minutes against the Washington Wizards in the NBA’s first game in Rio De Janerio, Brazil during the preseason on Oct. 12.
