Chicago Fire’s Magee named MLS Player of the Month

In his first full month with the Chicago Fire, Forward Mike Magee has been named Major League Soccer’s Player of the Month for June.

Since being acquired from the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 25 in a trade for the Fire’s rights to Robbie Rogers, Magee has helped the Fire to four straight MLS victories and a 3-0-1 record during June.

Magee, 28, a Chicago native made an impact immediately scoring seven goals in his first seven matches in all competitions with the Fire.

This is Magee’s second Player of the Month award this season as he recieved the same honor in March with the Galaxy. He also is the first Fire player since Brian McBride (April 2009) to win the award.

Magee will return to action with the Fire Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. against the San Jose Earthquakes at Toyota Park.
