During Derrick Rose’s rehab from ACL surgery, the common complaint was that the point guard was not overly open with the media. Rose would make brief appearances but never opened up with the local media.
On Wednesday, Rose opened up about many topics including why he sat out this past season; support from his teammates; his relationship with Tom Thibodeau; his goal for the 2013-2014; and a message to his fans.
This was the interview that many Bulls fans were waiting for. Perhaps, the biggest news that came from Rose is fans finally learned of the reason for why Rose would practice hard including pre-game workouts but not participate in games. Rose stated that during games, he would often face double teams from opposing teams and that created a challenge for his body.
That challenge was not present for Rose during practice. That will be the one thing to watch for in October. The ability of Rose to respond to double teams.
Between the video of Rose working out in Los Angeles and this interview with Bulls TV, faith should be restored in the Bulls’ superstar.
