The Chicago Bulls announced Saturday morning that lead assistant coach Ron Adams’ contract will not be renewed.
Adams, joined the Bulls last season for a second time following two seasons as Scott Brooks’ lead assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In his time with the Thunder he was instrumental in the player development of star players Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden helping them to back-to-back trips in the Western Conference Finals.
Prior to joining the Thunder he spent six season with the Bulls (2003-2008) and special assignments scout in 2008. During those years Adams saw the Bulls go to three consecutive playoff appearances and a 160-168 overall record.
It has been reported that Adams could rejoin the Thunder to fill the Maurice Cheeks assistant coaching vacancy, who took the Detroit Pistons head coaching position.
