The Chicago Cubs have signed second-rounder Rob Zastrynzy, according to an official announcement made today on Cubs.com.

The University of Missouri left-hander broke the news yesterday evening via his personal Twitter account.

Zastryzny was selected 41st overall during the second round in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Cubs and joins seven other draft picks as newly signed Cubs.

The other signees include:

Right-handed pitcher Zachary Godley (University of Tennessee, 10th round)

Catcher Cael Brockmeyer (California State University Bakersfield, 16th round)

Shortstop Giuseppe Papaccio (Seton Hall University, 18th round)

Second baseman Zak Blair (Mercyhurst University, 20th round)

Left fielder Kevin Brown (Bryant University, 22nd round)

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Ihrig (College of Marin, 23rd round)

Right-handed pitcher Zak Hermans (Princeton University, 30th round)

Zastryzny, 21, recorded a 3.38 ERA in 90 2/3 innings this year in his junior season for Tim Jamieson’s Missouri Tigers. His 228 career strikeout total also ties him for eighth in the program’s history.

The Cubs first-round pick and 2013 Dick Howser Trophy winner, Kris Bryant remains unsigned.
