Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose did not make his season debut against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. However, more rumblings continue to suggest that Rose’s return is imminent. Today’s version of The Chicago Wind takes a look at the latest rumor involving Rose’s return as well as increased rumors that the Chicago Bears may look to trade their first round draft pick, and a prank that Japan’s national team played on the Chicago Cubs.
Could “The Return” Come This Week?
There is another rumor that involves when Derrick Rose will make his return. The latest rumblings is that there is a possibility that Rose could make his return for the Bulls on Monday when the team plays the Denver Nuggets at the United Center. This time, the rumblings are surfacing from sources that are close to the organization. Instead of casting doubt on the idea of Rose playing Monday, reports are suggesting that sources within the organization say it’s a possibility. This would mark the first time since Rose tore his ACL that the organization, or those close to the organization, have suggested that Rose could play in the Bulls’ upcoming game. For what it’s worth, Comcast Sportsnet announced that the game will be carried on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago as opposed to the originally scheduled CSN Chicago plus, otherwise known as CLTV in some areas.
Chicago Bears Looking To Trade Their First Round Pick?
The Chicago Bears are strapped for cash. After making a first day splash with the signings of tight end Martellus Bennett and left tackle Jermon Bushrod, the Bears have left themselves with little wiggle room to make any other signings or additions. That would be why the Bears have remained firm in their stance with all their unrestricted free agents. That stance is if the player is not willing to accept what the team is offering, then chances are the player will be playing elsewhere at the start of the 2013 season. The biggest way the Bears will look to improve their roster going forward this off-season is through the draft. As it stands, the Bears’ have only five draft picks in this year’s draft. Though with Bennett and Bushrod signed, the Bears appear to be interested in trading their 20th overall selection in the 2013 draft. That would allow the Bears to compile draft picks, and in turn, talent to improve the roster.
Japan Pranks The Cubs
In a scene that belonged in the movie Lost in Translation, the Chicago Cubs were pranked by Japanese national team on Friday. During Spring Training, World Baseball Classic teams are playing exhibition games against Major League Baseball teams. On Friday, Japan was playing the Chicago Cubs. During warm-ups, a Japanese player took the mound with a jersey number of 104. The same amount of years that it has been since the Cubs last won the world series. Personally, I thought the prank was rather clever. Though, some Cubs’ fans were critical of the lack of class that team Japan showed the Cubs.
