Chicago Bears Hire Aaron Kromer As Offensive Coordinator

Even though Marc Trestman has yet to be officially introduced as the team’s head coach, the coach has wasted no time in filling his coaching staff. Coming to the Bears with Trestman, is Aaron Kromer. The Bears announced on Wednesday that Kromer will serve as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. That does not bode well for Mike Tice, whose time with the Bears may be coming to end shortly.

Kromer has been a member of the New Orleans Saints’ coaching staff since the 2008 season. Kromer has recently served as offensive line coach for the Saints, but served as the Saints’ interim head coach for the first six games of the 2012 season. The connection between Trestman and Kromer comes from 2001, when the two coaches were on the Oakland Raiders’ coaching staff. While Kromer has the official label as the offensive coordinator, the expectation is that Trestman will be the offensive play-caller.

Trestman will be introduced on Thursday.
